From Play To Words
Empowering children & Caregivers by: Understanding that Behaviour IS Communication.
Behaviour Support at From Play To Words focuses on understanding why behaviour happens so caregivers can support development and respond with clarity, confidence, and compassion. Our behaviour consultants work alongside families to strengthen executive functioning, emotional regulation, and everyday participation across home and community settings. We believe lasting change happens when caregivers feel supported, informed, and empowered.

Empowering Caregivers: Understanding Behaviour Web Series
- From Play To Words believes children do well when they can. Behaviour is shaped by nervous system regulation, skill development, sensory needs, environmental demands, and more! Here caregivers can learn to: identify triggers, behaviour functions and how to set-up and respond to your child to support success. (Whatever success looks like to you!)
- Therapist led small group learning for caregivers (We welcome not only parents but grandparents, uncles & aunties, or any consistent caregivers involved in your child's life)

Executive Functioning in Everyday Life
- Executive skills like flexibility, emotional regulation, working memory, and inhibition play a powerful role in behaviour. Behaviour consultants help caregivers understand how demands, fatigue, transitions, and stress impact these skills — and how to adjust expectations, supports, and environments to set children up for success.
- 1:1 supported learning
- Opportunities for small group learning related to executive skills for both children & caregivers alike
- Opportunities for self-learning through access to recorded short videos with the opportunity to ask questions to our panels
- This information guides the selection of practical accommodations and strategies so families can reduce stress, adjust expectations, and support growth in ways that are sustainable for everyone.
Real World Learning & Caregiver Coaching
- Because behaviour doesn't happen in a clinic!
- Behaviour consultants work directly with families in the environments where challenges occur — at home, in the grocery store, during transitions, or in the community. Caregivers practice strategies in real time, build confidence, and learn how to advocate for their child across settings.
- Advocating for my child in the community and at while they are at school
Success not only at home!
- Because children learn from all caregivers in their world.
- Children develop skills through consistent support across home, school, childcare, and community settings. From Play To Words behaviour consultants recognize the important role of community caregivers — including educators, daycare providers, and support staff — and work collaboratively to promote shared understanding and consistency. Through observation, consultation, and caregiver coaching, families are supported to build confidence in advocating for their child’s needs so skills can generalize and grow across environments.
